Mantide Rossa
About
The sculpture Mantide was exhibited at the 1972 Venice Biennale (36th Biennale) in a room dedicated to Carlo Ramous and designed by Carlo Scarpa.
Commenting on the sketches, Carlo Ramous wrote: “Of course, at first I made small sketches, imagining the large format I would give them. By calculating the tension of these large gestures, I wanted them to be representative of a strong human presence, almost provocative, an act of rebellion to re-establish that the gesture of the hand can still resolve the coercion, abuse and hypocrisy of our time”.
Size: H207 / W78 / D264 cm
The sculpture is currently on display in front of the Allard farm in Megève.
